A strong leadership group leads Innovation Frontier Arizona. Key individuals from economic development and industry, local workforce systems, all of the region's community colleges and universities and several of its largest school districts from communities and counties all along the southern Arizona border with Mexico have signed up.
This is the result of substantial groundwork undertaken by Southern Arizona workforce development officials to build the momentum with its partners starting in 2006 (when the first generation of WIRED was launched). The region also took advantage of technical assistance provided by the Department of Labor to build a greater understanding of how to address workforce development issues within the context of regional economic development planning.
A one-day design conference was convened soon after the release of the GEN III WIRED SGA. Receptive partners contributed wholeheartedly to the effort. The conference enabled early buy-in and established an esprit de corps among participants. Innovation Frontier Arizona now benefits from a strong leadership group to implement its regional vision.
